A 23 year old student lost his life after the motorcycle he was driving fell through an opening on the Southwoods Congressional Road bridge in Barangay Cabilang Baybay, Carmona City, Cavite early May 17 morning.
The victim was a student and resident of Barangay Milagrosa in Carmona City.
Police investigation and CCTV footage showed that the victim was traveling from GMA, Cavite toward the Southwoods Intersection when he suddenly looked downward and appeared to be using a cellphone while driving.
He allegedly failed to notice that he was approaching the damaged side of the bridge with an opening along the edge, causing him to fall from the structure.
Concerned residents, members of the Carmona CCPS, rescue teams, and CDRRMO personnel responded and carried out a retrieval operation before the victim was rushed to the Pagamutang Bayan ng Carmona, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
