​Infrastructure concessionaire MPCALA Holdings Inc. said construction of the 45-kilometer Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) was nearing completion, with work continuing on its remaining sections.
The company said construction was ongoing along the remaining 18.5-kilometer stretch covering Subsections 1 and 2. Current activities focused on road pavements, bridge structures, drainage systems and interchange ramps.
Once completed, the final sections would extend the operational expressway from Mamplasan in Biñan to Governor’s Drive in General Trias, continuing through Open Canal and reaching Kawit.
MPCALA said the completion of the remaining sections would finalize the CALAX alignment and provide a direct connection to the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) through the CAVITEX-CALAX Link (CCLink).
The interconnected road network was expected to provide motorists with an alternative to heavily congested local roads, reduce travel times between Cavite, Laguna and Metro Manila, and improve access to major residential, commercial and industrial areas.
Beyond easing travel, the expressway network was also expected to support regional economic activity and improve the movement of goods. Transport and logistics operators would benefit from more efficient routes for moving raw materials, finished products and cargo between distribution centers, warehouses and commercial markets across the region.
CALAX was being developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework, with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) serving as the government grantor and MPCALA Holdings Inc., a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation, acting as the private concessionaire.
